As you may have noticed, one visually small but conceptually large item on this page has changed since you last visited. I’ll give you a hint: it starts with “M,” ends with “flash,” and likes to hang out in corners. Give up? It’s our new logo! You can see it showing itself off in the upper left.
Mindflash has recently released an exciting makeover of the the Manage Users page due to the growing needs of our customer base. When Mindflash launched this product in 2010 the average number of Trainees in the system was around 500. Today that number is much higher, with many accounts having tens of thousands of Trainees. This change in average program size created new and different challenges for Mindflash to solve. Mindflash has always prided itself on being easy to use; there are no setup fees and programs can get off the ground in a day. We have strived to make training fast and easy, and to ensure Trainers are able to focus on training, not maintaining a database. It’s with these core principles in mind we decided to overhaul the Manage Users page, which still works for smaller programs but scales to meet the needs of large, enterprise users.
Creating, promoting and sustaining an organizational culture of learning is one hallmark of organizational success. A culture of learning can result in an organization which cultivates the values that individuals seek—such as tolerance, open discussion, and the ability to think holistically and systematically. These same values can also give an organization a competitive advantage in today’s marketplace.
In the development of eLearning, we’re always creatively incorporating great technology into our interactive courses, including videos, infographics, and animation. Cinemagraphs are the latest trend to join the multitude of resources at our eLearning fingertips, but what makes them so great? A photograph with a spot of subtle movement, a cinemagraph is quite literally a photo come to life, and its simultaneous naturalness and unusualness can be utterly arresting. When trainers custom design courses, the eye-catching nature of cinemagraphs can be used to enhance learning programs with visual cues, to create easy and relatable graphics, and to strengthen marketing and memorability for learners. The actual creation of cinemagraphs used to be a complex process, but newer technology make these great graphics simple to create and great candidates to incorporate into and enhance eLearning.
“[A culture of learning results in] a compelling vision of an organization made up of employees skilled at creating, acquiring, and transferring knowledge. These people could help their firms cultivate tolerance, foster open discussion, and think holistically and systemically. Such learning organizations would be able to adapt to the unpredictable more quickly than their competitors could.”
—David A. Garvin, Amy C. Edmondson, Francesca Gino (HBR) paraphrasing Peter M. Senge’s words from The Fifth Discipline
Hosting employee training can be an expensive proposition. Funding for travel and accommodations is often a significant part of the training budget. But we tend to approve the allocation of those travel-related funds because providing learners with the ability to collaborate during learning is such a key component of ensuring that learning sticks.
